WE WERE "SHAPED" FOR MINISTRY

God didn't design church ministry for a select few with seminary degrees. Here at Asbury, every member of our church is a minister. That's what SHAPE TRAINING is all about. It's an exciting, fast-paced class designed to help you discover your SHAPE for ministry.

Your SHAPE is one-of-a-kind. It's a combination of your Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences.

During SHAPE TRAINING, you'll complete a SHAPE Profile, which is a detailed Discovery tool that helps reveal how God wants to use someone with your SHAPE to minister to others in need.

Next, you'll be encouraged to schedule a follow-up SHAPE Discovery Session to talk one-on-one with a trained Ministry Representative about your SHAPE Profile. Your Ministry Representative will help connect you with an Asbury ministry where God can use you to make a lasting impact.

Starting a New Ministry

Would you like to start a new ministry at Asbury?

Do you feel the desire to start a new ministry at Asbury Church? We would love to help you build a ministry action plan for your new ministry by completing the following steps:

Step #1:Qualification: Any new idea should meet the following qualifications to starting a new ministry:

1) The ministry idea must be biblically sound.

2) The ministry idea will not raise funds.

3) The ministry idea fulfills one or more of our five purposes (Worship, Fellowship,
Discipleship, Ministry, Evangelism)

4) The ministry idea will be led by a leadership team with the help of a staff liason.

5) The leader of the leadership team attends Asbury Church and has completed S.H.A.P.E. Training.

Step #2:Information: If you said 'yes' to all of the above qualifications please address the following questions:

What is the purpose of the ministry?

Who is the target for your ministry?

What needs will your ministry meet?

How will you meet these needs?

Step #3:Assimilation: Once we receive your ministry idea the Director of Lay Ministry will contact you to meet and discuss it with you in more detail. She will work with you to build your ministry action plan so your ministry can be assimilated into the church body.

Helpful Information:

--Pray! Pray! And Pray! Please spend time in prayer over this possible ministry idea. If the Lord is behind it?He will make it happen in His time.

--If you are married, please make sure your family is behind you as you take on this new opportunity.

--The Director of Lay Ministry will be your greatest resource for seeing your ministry idea from inception to fruition. Her main job, as with all the staff is to FACILITATE and ENCOURAGE ministry in the Name of Jesus Christ!
